VA Trip Con't

Poor Shawn had to get up about 3;30ish his plane left the airport at 6am. It was the first flight out. I did not want to take any chances of a delay. We were meeting him at the airport and were heading straight to Richmond for the JG event.
Shawn had been sick the week before with a bad cold and could not seem to get over it.

B and I woke up in time for a quick walk to the beach, breakfast and then off to the airport. Smooth, seamless the plan I had worked on for about two mths was working perfectly. We arrived at the airport with plenty of time to spare. We waited about 1/2 hour and right on schedule Shawn was in VA. We were both very excited to see him it had only been 24 hours but B kept asking when will dad be here and I hate staying in a hotel alone(sort of, I had B but I don't like being the only adult)(yet another fear I have cultivated in my old age.)

It was obvious Shawn was still feeling very poorly. We had plenty of time to get to Richmond, and being the hotel was only 20 minuets away I thought it best to let Shawn go back, get medicated, rest for a little while and then begin our journey to Richmond. Shawn was running a temp and had a horrible cough, getting up at 3am did not help the situation at all. Once again my husband being a real trooper!

The drive to Richmond was great beautiful scenery, easy directions and lots of great first for B. VA Beach is a huge military installation. From our hotel we watched fighter planes land and take off, very cool( this is where you all stand and sing PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN, by Lee Greenwood) In Shawn's navy days he spent most of his time on Aircraft carriers. B and Shawn have looked at them on line but on the way to Richmond we past two that were currently in port. Then we traveled in a tunnel under the water way they would travel to go back out to sea. A little creepy to me(I think I am developing closterphopia in my old age) but B thought it was the coolest thing ever to be driving under the ocean.

We arrived at the event with time to spear. We dressed B in his best JG jersey and headed into the event

I can't wait to hear all of B's stories, sounds like everyone had a blast.
