End of Vaction

Vacation is over!
Some would say, "Wendy, you do not work, aren't you always on vacation"?
and I would say, "I work more now then I ever did in the corporate world."

But, with that being said the Xmas holiday break, Winter break as the public school system calls it has officially come to an end. B has started back to school and my husband is back to his normal work schedule. After he was away for a week working out of town he had to take 6 or 7 days vacation before the end of the year, he also had two and three days off at Xmas and New Years. All combined he worked about four days in the last three weeks.

So with Shawn's time off and B being out of school we all had a lot of time to spend together. At first I thought I was going to die, run screaming from my house. It seemed they had entered my office , my domain and had taken over. Every time I cleaned something someone had made a mess out of something else. Cups and dishes appeared out of know where in bedrooms and living rooms, but never in the dishwasher.

And if that was not enough about one week into winter break the inevitable..."Mom I'm bored", began. It was not because we all sat on the couch and looked at each other, it is the little mind of a 5year old that is always moving and always looking for the next best thing.

Christmas was pack jammed with relatives, travel, new toys and neighborhood kids coming over to play. Once the Xmas stuff was over it was clean and organize, visit more relatives, more toys and a New Years day with Shamu at Sea World OH and lets not forget the three days of Y camp he insisted on attending and a day of party planning for the upcoming Birthday ordeal. It is beyond me with all this going on how any one could be board.

Something I really did enjoy was a few days in the mix of all the activities I spent with my husband just the two of us. Usually running errands or cleaning out the shed but it was fun just the two of us having a conversation, just the two of us! We got a lot done around the house and kicked off the new year fairly organized. YEAH!

By week two I was reserved to the fact everyone was in my space, and it was o.k.! With everyone home it we did not kick into New Years Mode until the 6th. That is when everyone went back to work or school(thank you God!)and I was able to get started on being a new me, well an improved me. I vowed to hit the Gym daily and planned a new attack on my waist line. 30 min. cardio and 30mins weight resistance training. Oprah said women over 40 need resistance training to build muscle, after a certain age muscle decrease and your metabolism slows. The best remedy is to build and or maintain muscle to help you metabolism. Great I am down with that.

So I have been to the gym everyday so far and I actually served salad today with dinner. We are off to a great start for a healthier new year.

And yes.... THANK GOD VACATION IS OVER...AND EVERYONE IS BACK TO THEIR OWN SPACE.!
Do i miss all the activity in the house....NO, today I cleaned and the house stayed that way for longer then 1/2 hour.

Coincidence, I just "cleaned" before turning on the computer. I'm betting my definition of the word is less rigorous than yours.
